Juma-tul-Wida - last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan, is being observed here like other parts of the Muslim world today (October 28) with traditional religious fervour.

Stringent security measures have been adopted in all major cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Multan to avert any eventuality. The police officials and other security staff will be deployed in mosques and Imambargahs.

In some mosques, security officials will search Nimazi to ensure no untoward situation take place on this important day. The largest congregations of Juma-tul-Wida will be held at Faisal Masjid in Islamabad and Qadeemi Jamia Masjid in Rawalpindi.

In Lahore, the main Juma congregations will be held at Jamia Ashrafia, Data Darbar Mosque, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Badshahi Mosque, Nila Gunmbad Mosque, Minhaj ul Quran etc.

SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE Juma-tul-Wida has special importance for Muslims, who offer prayers on this day and seek mercy of Allah Almighty. Imams and Khateeb in their Juma sermons highlight the significance of Juma-tul-Wida and Ramazan, and urge the followers to make a solemn pledge to follow the teachings of Islam in letter and spirit.

Special prayers will also be offered on the occasion particularly, for the ending of miseries facing the Muslims across the world including Pakistan in the aftermath of recent devastating earthquake.

Moreover, rallies and protest demonstrations will also be held across the country to mark the Al-Quds Day on Friday.

Religious and politico-religious parties and organisations in all major cities and towns would hold rallies before and after the Friday prayers to show their sympathies with the cause of Palestinians. For decades, the people of Palestine are waging a struggle to get their land freed from the Zionist clutches.
